The design life of our systems is up to 15 years. In First Life with the highest capacity and reliability requirements, the systems can be operated for around 8-10 years. Following use in the traction area, the storage unit can be returned to Designwerk with the available residual capacity. Designwerk is investigating another possible use as a second-life battery, e.g. as a home or buffer storage system. Together with partners, we ensure the recycling of batteries after use in first or second life. Battery take-back is ensured through an advanced recycling fee and transparent recycling processes. The recovered materials meet the qualitative criteria for use in the secondary raw materials market – sometimes for the production of new batteries.
