The modules consist of several cells, which are the actual energy storage devices. For the battery modules, we use existing modules from the automotive industry. We then integrate them into an overall system. This consists of a housing with thermal insulation to protect the battery modules from the outside world, cooling plates to keep the modules in their ideal temperature range, and a battery management system (BMS) that permanently monitors the overall system, ensures protective functions and communicates with the higher-level system.
