The acquisition costs for an e-truck are currently higher than for a diesel. In the long term, however, electric vehicles have one major advantage: the total cost of ownership (TCO). Europe-wide price hikes for fossil fuels, high energy efficiency, low operating and maintenance costs, risingCO2 taxes and concessions on toll systems for zero-emission vehicles (ZEV) make electric trucks attractive in the medium and long term. Numerous studies show that battery electric vehicles, or BEVs for short, will be the most economically viable option by the end of the 2020s. In addition, battery manufacturing costs will continue to fall drastically in the medium term.
In addition, many European countries, such as Germany and Austria, have subsidy measures in place to lower the purchase costs and reduceCO2 consumption.
