Electromobility specialist Designwerk wins Volvo as main investor

April 26, 2021 – Volvo Group and Designwerk Group have signed an agreement for a joint future. Designwerk, Swiss manufacturer and engineering company that develops, produces and distributes electric mobility products and engineering services, replaces your existing investor. By acquiring 60 percent of Designwerk Group, Volvo Group will complement its existing offering in the area of niche products and solutions. Designwerk will leverage Volvo’s confidence in its pioneering products for further growth.

This investment supports Volvo Group’s transition to climate-neutral transport solutions across all segments,” says Lars Stenqvist, Volvo Group Chief Technology Officer.

Under the Futuricum brand, Designwerk Group markets customized electric trucks, mobile fast chargers and high-voltage battery systems. As an innovative company, Designwerk relies on rapid feedback loops during development with customers to constantly improve the offering.

Designwerk will continue to operate as an independent company. Volvo Group’s investment will allow Designwerk Group to master rapid growth and further expand the company’s business.

The transaction is expected to close in the coming weeks.
