Double world premiere: Four Swiss pioneers present electric trucks with unique battery performance

Oct. 14, 2021 – Friderici Special, Avesco Rent, Galliker Transport and Futuricum will present two all-electric tractor-trailers, each with 900 kWh of battery capacity. It is a world first “Engineered in Switzerland”. This means that electromobility is now reaching heavy and special transports and is sending a clear signal in the logistics industry.

Transport service providers Galliker Transport and Friderici Special, construction equipment rental company Avesco Rent and Futuricum, the e-truck brand of the Designwerk Group, are presenting a double world premiere in transport logistics: two fully electric 40-ton tractor units, each with a battery capacity of 900 kilowatt hours (kWh). This innovation has come about thanks to the commitment of the four pioneers to sustainability.

Premiere leads to competitive radius of action

The two electric tractor units have been completed and have left production for Friderici Special and Galliker Transport. Adrian Melliger, Managing Director of the Designwerk Group, is delighted: “We have reached a milestone with the completion and presentation of these vehicles. Thanks to the installation of 900 kWh battery capacity, we are increasing the radius of action in the logistics sector and enabling particularly energy-intensive applications such as heavy and special transports.”

The manufacturer has been granted an exemption by the Swiss Federal Roads Office (FEDRO) so that the all-electric tractor units with 900 kWh can be used on the roads. This approves the construction and deployment of two Futuricum vehicle models with an additional length of one meter and an increase in payload of two tons.

With the completion of these vehicles, the Designwerk Group, which has been fully committed to electric mobility for around 12 years, achieves a milestone with a signal effect even beyond the country’s borders. This sends out a further signal for sustainable mobility and ensures locally emission-free journeys.
