Designwerk Technologies AG: Consumption evaluation 2024

Designwerk Technologies AG launches Lowliner Test Tour 2024 in Germany: Drive low – Load high.

22.08.2024 – Swiss electric pioneer Designwerk Technologies AG is the first supplier ever to offer interested parties and customers the opportunity to test drive a fully electric Designwerk Lowliner. During a two- to four-week test phase, the model can be rented for volume transportation and used for everyday business. With the Lowliner test tour, the e-mobility expert is trageting companies with volume transporters.

Customers and interested parties of Designwerk Technologies AG now have the opportunity to test drive a full-electric MID CAB Semi Lowliner 4x2T. From August 1, 2024, the Swiss company will be the first e-truck supplier with an ongoing production of e-lowliners to offer a rentable battery electric lowliner for test purposes. The project has been made possible through cooperation with the German rental partner GTT Greiwing Truck Trailer. The demand for rental slots is high – and not without reason. A double-digit number of Designwerk E-Lowliners have been purchased on the basis of positive funding decisions from our rental partner, meaning that new rental customers are also benefiting this year from funding from the German governments program for climate-friendly commercial vehicles and the associated infrastructure (KsNI). A unique opportunity: “The test tour is aimed at fleet operators whose fleet consists of low-liner tractor units and who want to gain experience with e-mobility in this specific area of application,” says Fabian Bahlmann, Sales Manager, E-Trucks Europe North. The truck can be rented for 2 or 4 weeks. Optionally, a mobile DC fast charger can easily be added to the test package.

The fifth wheel coupling height of 937 millimetres of the battery-electric Lowliner semitrailer tractor enables the use of mega trailers for volume transport with a clear loading height of three metres. In combination with the Lowliner, up to 15 per cent more volume capacity or 50 per cent more load carriers can be transported compared to the conventional equivalent. Mega trailers are mainly used in the automotive industry. Due to their significantly larger loading volume, they can make full use of the three-metre high loading space with the standardised load carriers. This is made possible by the heart of the tractor unit: the battery. Designwerk has developed a flat LFP battery for this purpose, which makes the particularly low overall height and the fifth wheel height possible.

If a test tour lasting several days does not fit into your schedule, Designwerk recommends a visit to the IAA Transportation in Hanover, where you can test drive an electric lowliner from our rental partner GGT Greiwing with a Fleetloop mega trailer at the International Motor Show. The test vehicle will be available for a test drive from September 17 to 22, 2024. One day in advance, on September 16, 2024, accredited media representatives will also have the opportunity to take a closer look at the vehicle during the official IAA Transportation press conference. The guided press tour will take place from 10.20 a.m. directly at the Test Drive in Hall 11, TD 14.

Regardless of whether it is a short test drive at the IAA in Hanover or an operational test lasting several weeks. Interested parties can obtain details of the offer by contacting trucks@designwerk.com.
