On May 21, Designwerk Technologies AG opened its doors in Winterthur for two days. The event took place once again and is one of the most important events of the year for the company. Around 150 guests traveled from all over Europe to experience innovation in electric trucks for special applications at first hand.

The event began on both days with a strong first panel, in which founder Tobias Wülser took the guests through the history of the company under the title “From the electric two-axle vehicle to the electric five-axle vehicle”. He showed how a vision from Winterthur became a Europe-wide driver of electromobility. Building on this, Markus Erdmann, Head of Product, gave a well-founded outlook on the future of electric mobility for heavy trucks. He shed light on how electric commercial vehicles in special applications are setting new standards not only economically but also ecologically.

Tech-Walk – Current technologies for electric trucks, charging technology and storage solutions

The four Tech Walk stations on the factory premises and in the production halls were particularly hands-on: Here, visitors were able to gain in-depth insights into the individual product areas of Designwerk: From the mobile fast chargers for Mega Charging and high-voltage battery systems through to the in-house electric truck factory.

Fully electric trucks for special applications in real operation

The two afternoons of the events focused on real-life application examples. Designwerk Customers from various industries reported on their experiences with electric trucks:

  • Daniel Laubscher, CTO of the Kaiser Group, presented the use of electricity in sewer cleaning.
  • Dominik Keller from Bronto Skylift presented an all-electric façade cleaning vehicle that works at heights of up to 56 meters.
  • Adrian Meier from GEVI showed how electric vehicles are used for road maintenance and snow clearing.
  • Peter Galliker, CEO of Galliker Transportation AG, shared his experience of operating the Battery Backed Mega Charger in real life with the audience. At the same time, the company received the “DW Range King” award. With over 500,000 kilometers, a DW semitrailer tractor in the Galliker fleet was able to secure the award.
  • Silvan Eberhard, member of the Board of Directors of Eberhard Holding AG, closed the panel on the second day with the use case of the emission-free construction site and the use of the all-electric truck mixer.

Technology know-how, electric truck exhibition and demonstration

A total of 14 special electric vehicles were on display throughout the event. Live demonstrations of electric truck mixers, large road wipers and the all-electric lifting platform highlighted the performance of the auxiliary drives, which are also electrically powered, and thus the uniqueness of these vehicles.

“The Demo Days were convincing: electromobility in heavy goods transport and special applications is no longer a topic for the future, but is already practicable today – as the two days at Designwerk impressively demonstrated.”
Adrian Meier, Head of Operations and Support National Roads GEVI

During the test drive, visitors also had the opportunity to experience driving an e-truck.

A look behind the scenes with high-level networking

With the Demo Days 2025, Designwerk is sending out a strong signal for Swiss innovative strength. The e-mobility expert impressively demonstrates how far electric mobility has already come in heavy goods transportation – and what potential still lies ahead of us. The variety of applications presented makes it clear that electric special vehicles are no longer a vision, but are already being used successfully every day. For the guests, the day was not just a look behind the scenes at Designwerk, but first and foremost a lively exchange with industry colleagues, technology partners and users.
