Designwerk Technologies AG presents one such innovation with its new mobile DC fast charger, the MDC 88-920. The device is powerful, particularly compact and also mobile and flexible to use. The DC fast charger meets the increased demand for overnight charging of commercial vehicles with a battery capacity of more than 500 kilowatt hours.

The new mobile fast charger from Swiss company Designwerk Technologies AG is a real all-rounder in the field of charging technology: the MDC 88-920 enables a permanently high charging capacity of 84 kilowatts at up to 1000 volts. An e-truck with 500 kWh, for example, can be charged from 10 to 80 percent of the battery charge level (State of Charge, SOC) in under 4 hours. With a battery capacity of 1000 kilowatt hours, the vehicle charges in around ten hours. Electric vehicles with high battery capacities, such as battery-electric long-distance trucks, can thus be charged flexibly and overnight. The transportable DC fast charger is particularly suitable for waste collection or sewer cleaning vehicle depots. The MDC 88-920 charges two vehicles simultaneously with 42 kilowatts each. In addition, the device combines the advantages of the existing product family with a combination of high charging power in a compact and mobile form that is unique in this class. The dimensions of the fast charger are up to 65 percent smaller than comparable devices with similar charging capacities.

Maximum compatibility through maximum flexibility

The MDC 88-920 from Designwerk impresses with its compactness and large radius of action. The castor set makes it easy to transport and flexible to use. The fast charger also features the latest generation of power electronics. It draws power from the standard industrial socket formats CEE 63 and CEE 125 and can charge vehicles with the CCS Type 1 and 2 charging standards, CHAdeMO and the Chinese GB/T standard. The NACS charging standard and the new MCS standard can also be integrated without any problems. Users receive straightforward support with charging management. Charging processes can be analyzed and diagnoses created via interfaces.

Not just performance

The MDC 88-920 impresses with its ability and excellent design on top. In 2023, Designwerk’s MDC product range was awarded the prestigious Red Dot Award for outstanding design. In 2024, the latest model in the DC fast charger family will be a finalist in the Smarter E Award in the e-mobility category.
